Crowds line up for Llandudno 10k

A HUGE turnout of 540 runners took part in the 18th annual Nick Beer 10k race in Llandudno on Sunday.

The race, along Llandudno Promenade and the scenic Great Orme, is held in memory of Nick Beer who died after completing a half marathon.

Jason Dunkerley from East Cheshire Harriers won the race in a time of 33m22sec with Matthew Roberts of Eryri Harriers in second and team-mate Brendan Rothery in third.

Jennifer Clague of Liverpool Harriers was the first female competitor in a time of 38m03sec.

Race director John Hatton said: "It was a fantastic event. It goes from strength to strength. We had people from all over the country."
