Barritt Cup

Llandudno Junction 4 Mochdre 3

BARRITT Cup holders Llandudno Junction scraped past a determined Mochdre side to reach the quarter final stage of the competition.

Junction started very brightly with Aaron Spencer and Jake Cassidy causing the Mochdre back line to look uneasy in the opening minutes and the home side took the lead when captain Simon Kay hit a long free kick that bounced in front of Arron Spencer and from a very tight angle he smashed a volley into the top of the net.

Minutes later Spencer was judged offside when another volley found the net. Mochdre certainly did not lie down and attacked with real purpose in Robbie Knowles and it was he who always looked dangerous when on the ball.

Junction increased their lead when a cross from the left found Mike Lundstrum and his effort went over the line to make it 2-0.

Not long after Mochdre, were awarded a free kick from thirty yards out and up stepped Robbie Knowles to thunder a shot past Liam Ewing in the Junction goal.

In the second half and Junction increased their lead when Jake Cassidy mis-hit his first effort but managed to head the ball in and make the score 3-1.

Mochdre then pulled a goal back with an outstanding finish from a tight angle and with the game end to end Junction were awarded a penalty when Joel Hewitt was upended in the box.

Up stepped Lundstrum to make the score 4-2 but Mochdre went finished yet and scored their third late on to make the scoreline 4-3.
