FORMER pin-up Linda Lusardi and Brookside actor Sam Kane are bringing a touch of glamour to Rhyl this week.
The husband and wife team star in Viva Broadway at Rhyl’s Pavilion Theatre on Thursday, and the glitzy show features hit songs from musical theatre including classics from Phantom Of The Opera, Mary Poppins, Company, Mamma Mia and Carousel and hits from new shows including the Little Mermaid and The Boy From Oz.
But for Linda, who is married to Sam, best-known for his role as hairdresser Peter Phelan in the Liverpool-set soap, this won’t be her first trip to the popular seaside resort.
She said: “I have been before because Sam comes from Liverpool and Rhyl was his holiday haunt. It was lovely.”
The couple have two children, Lucy 13, and Jack 10, and find working together, along with a talented set of dancers and singers, an enjoyable experience.
Linda said: “The show is made up of songs from the best West End shows, songs that you can sing. All your favourites are in there.
“I sing three or four numbers, everything from Marilyn Monroe to Mary Poppins.
“It is a glitzy show, with lots of dancing and costumes, it has got a lot of glamour. I’m sure people will have a nice evening.”
After years as one of the nation’s favourite pin-ups, Linda branched out into a career in acting and has appeared on reality TV show Dancing on Ice, The Bill and most recently, Emmerdale.
She said: “I loved Emmerdale. I did it for over a year, and it was a really good grounding for an actress because you are getting new scripts every day.
“I had to leave because of the children, we live too far away and it was not fair on them. Emmerdale has left the door open, who knows I could go back.”
Despite her successful modelling career in the 1980s, a whole new generation of people are now getting to know Linda through her recent roles.
“There are the under 20s who know me because of Dancing on Ice, Emmerdale and The Bill.
"People do recognise me, and ask me for autographs that is part of being in the business,” she added.
