WREXHAM’s panto wars look set to rumble on – with a woman offering a musical tribute to support star Tim Vincent.

Tim, from Overton came under fire from established amateur groups after the former Blue Peter presenter announced he would stage Aladdin at the William Aston Hall over the festive period.

Wrexham and District Pantomime Company were unhappy at the plans because they were planning to stage Aladdin at the same venue in February.

However, Johnstown resident Dale Evans, 40, said she wanted to show the TV star, who recently backed efforts to make Wrexham a city, he had plenty of backing in the town.

Dale has written a song and rap about Tim because she thinks his presence in the town would be a good thing.

She added: “He’s trying to get Wrexham to become a city and is supporting Wrexham people. He is trying to get us on the map.”

Dale said she enjoyed writing songs as a hobby and once performed a rap in front of 1,200 people in the town centre.

She said: “When Tim comes back to Wrexham town they should praise him for what he’s trying to do and not go stabbing him in the back.

“He’s trying to get us to become a city, so Chester doesn’t steal us.

“All my life I have been passionate about the area and all my family come from Wrexham.”

So Chester doesn't steal us? I have lived in Wrexham all my life and used to be passionate about the area. Not any more. It saddens me to walk through the town centre to see so many empty shops! Yes we have Eagles Meadow but that is hardly the heart of the town. Wrexham needs to think about restoring our town centre before it can even consider becoming a city.

We don't deserve to be a city. It has and always will be a town in my eyes.
