THE Queen was greeted by a cheering crowd at Bangor station on her arrival in North Wales.

Children from Bangor’s schools welcomed Her Majesty and waved Welsh flags as she and Prince Philip departed for Caernarfon.

The Queen arrived on the Royal train wearing a pink dress with matching hat, whilst her husband stopped to talk briefly with teachers from Hillside school, who had a group of pupils waiting to greet the Queen by her Royal car.

Amy Mano, 5, of Hillside school, was one of the children lucky enough to welcome The Queen to Bangor.

“I liked her hat and her shiny shoes,” she said.

Rachel Christy, who’s daughter Elisha also met The Queen, was delighted that her daughter got to meet Royalty.

“It’s fantastic - she’s been really looking forward to it,” she said.

“It was so exciting.”

Sylvia Porter, of Hillgrove, was pleased to bring her school children to witness the Royal visit.

“We brought about 120 children down here.”

“We always come down to the Royal visits, we’re delighted to display the Welsh dragon and it was well worth catching a glimpse.”

“We think it’s very important; it’s something that they can share with their grandchildren.”

The Queen and Prince Phillip then left to visit Caernarfon Caste and Dinas Station.
