POLICE have begun a summer holiday crack down on anti-social behaviour and under-age drinking across rural Chester.
Officers will step up patrols at hotspots in the evenings and weekends.
Police will confiscate alcohol from under-18s and remind anyone caught buying alcohol for under-18s or selling alcohol to underage drinkers they could face an £80 fine.
Inspector Phil Hodgson said: “With the lighter nights and school holidays, it is more tempting for young people to stay out in the evenings.
“The majority of youngsters do not cause any trouble and are simply looking for a place to meet up with their friends.
“However, there is a minority who do cause problems for the rest of the community.
“Alcohol often plays a part in anti-social behaviour and can also leave young people who drink vulnerable.
“We are working with local on and off-licensed premises to ensure alcohol is not served to or bought on behalf of under-age drinkers.
“I would also appeal to parents and older siblings not to give alcohol to underage drinkers.”
As part of the campaign, officers are also helping to support local youth groups and activities for young people.
Insp Hodgson said: “Often, when my officers speak to young people, their main complaint there is nothing for them to do and as a result we have been assisting various groups to put on activities.
