THE WAIT is finally over for Llandudno Town FC ahead of the kick-off this weekend of the Huws Grey Alliance 2010-11 season.

Everyone at the club has worked tirelessly over the summer to build on last season’s success, with extensive work at Maesdu Park giving Tudno one of the finest grounds in the league.

Co-Manager Grant Montgomery said that everyone at the club was looking forward to the season ahead.

“This is the worst time of year for a manager - you just want to kick off,” he said.
“It’s been a difficult pre-season - quite a lot of players are carrying injuries and might be missing for Saturday

The club have brought in a few new faces to build on last season’s success, with right sided New Zealander Alec Williams and John Dutfield among those set to shine.

The signs have been encouraging in pre-season with a series of good results, including wins against Trafford FC and local rivals Llandudno Junction, as well as a well earned draw with a Salford City side that fielded two different line-ups in each half.

But the club will have to hit the ground running after the fixture computer threw up a tough start to the season, with matches against predicted title challengers Porthmadog and last season’s winners Llangefni Town among their opening fixtures.

“One thing I’ve learned as a manager is to not look too far forward - if you do that then you can often lose focus.” Grant said.

“I’m looking forward to Saturday’s game against Buckley, and at five o’clock we’ll have a look at the next match.”

These two matches sandwich one of the biggest matches in Town’s calendar, as Rhyl FC renew their rivalry after their relegation from the Welsh Premiership in the third game of the season.

Despite the tough start, Town manager Grant Montgomery is looking forward to another exciting season for the club.

Llandudno also have a tough draw in the Huws Gray cup, playing away to relegated Caersws on Saturday 18 September.
