LLANDUDNO TOWN FC got off to a winning start on the opening day of the Huws Gray Alliance season, beating Buckley Town 1-0.
The tie was settled five minutes from time by Dylan Smith, who scored a spectacular individual effort after coming on as a sub.
An even first half of few chances saw Buckley go closest to scoring, with Colin Roberts clearing off the line from a corner.
The second half saw Llandudno build up a bit of momentum, and Aled Stapleton had the best chance of the half after being put through one-on-one, only to shoot straight at the keeper.
The match looked to be heading for a Stalemate until Smith’s winner, with Danny Hughes, Sean Eardley and Jamie Duffy also looking impressive for Tudno.
Llandudno travel to Porthmadog for a tough match this weekend, before a tantalising renewal of rivalrys with Rhyl FC the following weekend.
The club will then christen their newly developed Maesdu ground with the visit of league champions Llangefni Town on 4 September.
