LLANGOLLEN 93
BUCKLEY 94-1
(Buckley won 9-1)
THERE was a real shock in store as Llangollen slipped to a rare Division Five loss.
The promotion chasers had lost just three times all summer ahead of their trip to Buckley, but the Flintshire side came out on top in some style with a nine-wicket romp.
Llan could only muster 93 all out from 43.1 overs batting first.
Only Tom King (23), Nick Austin (16), Iwan Williams (15) and Arthur Jenkins (13) reached double figures, as Alyn Evans (4-12) and Adam Shaw (4-16) caused mayhem.
Buckley required fewer than 20 overs to reach a winning 94-1 in reply (Adam Cliffe 41 not out). Luke Gardner (1-37) was Llangollen’s wicket taker.
St Asaph 2nds lost their Division Two encounter at home to Dolgellau after being bowled out for 133 (John Winning 43, Gethin Edwards 5-37).
All of the Dolgellau top order clicked to make sure the visitors got home with plenty of time to spare, reaching 134-3.
Jonathan Mills was the main scorer with 30, with a wicket apiece falling to St Asaph bowlers Luke Robinson (1-16), Jimmy Vaughan (1-14) and Keiran Lucas (1-21).
Denbigh 2nds had more double figure batting efforts, but they still ended up second best during their Division Three visit to Mold 2nds.
Rob Moore scored 80 batting at number three, while opener Adrian Forster added 62 to the cause as Mold reached a strong 203-7 in their 45 overs (Jack Griffiths 4-13).
Denbigh’s reply contained scoring efforts from Danny Hopkins (25), Stuart Moulden (24), Dafydd Lewis (21), Huw Watson (14) and Andy Clark (10) as they made 121-9.
Nine-man Ruthin 2nds romped to a fantastic Division Six win at Anglesey Aluminium 2nds.
Batting first, the visitors were indebted to Hugh Sharples (73 not out) who anchored the innings of 129 all out.
Darryl Jones was again the top performer with the ball, snapping up 4-34, which means he has combined figures over two weekends of 10-51!
Jamie Hughes (2-17), Chris Scotland (2-18) and Hugh Sharples (1-7) also played their part to help Ruthin as Aluminium were bowled out for 84.
