LLANDUDNO TOWN will be cursing their rotten luck after a series of unfortunate incidents saw them lose 4-1 to title holders Llangefni.
The match spoiled the party atmosphere for the club on their return to the new-look Maesdu Park, but there were still positives to take away despite the heavy looking scoreline.
Town enjoyed much of the opening exchanges, and could have easily been a goal to the good three minutes in, with Danny Hughes, who impressed all afternoon, firing a good opening over the bar.
The miss was to prove costly, as Llangefni took the lead through a Darren Gowans strike that took a huge deflection off Paul Roberts past a stranded Paul Whitfield.
An unstoppable strike from Darren Thomas made it two nil, but Llandudno were handed a lifeline when Danny Hughes made no mistake from the same position as his previous attempt.
But a third goal for Llangefni, which had more than a suspicion of offside about it, again put Llandudno two goals down, and things went from bad to worse when Hughes earned a penalty for Llandudno, which was then saved by the visiting keeper.
After a frantic first half, both sides seemed to shore things up in the second period, but another goal for the Llangefni’s Thomas, who received the ball after a clearance rebounded horribly off a Llandudno defender, added a gloss to the final scoreline.
This Saturday’s cup match away to Dolgellau has been moved to Llandudno due to a drainage problem at the Snowdonia side’s ground.
The match kicks off at 2.30pm.
