KNIGHTON Police have issued notices to some Knighton youths and parents outlining their unnaceptable behaviour, and warning that if it continues could lead to arrest.
A total of five Police Information Notices under the Harassment Act have been served on four local Knighton residents.
The notices are sent in the spirit of crime prevention and to make them aware that if the kind of behaviour described were to continue, then they would be liable to arrest and prosecution.
The letters are neither a court order nor a criminal record, but are kept by the police for the purposes of any future investigations and are retained in accordance with national guidelines on the Management of Police Information.
A spokesperson for Dyfed-powys Police said: “This type of approach when the offender(s) is known has proved most successful and is an effective tool in attempting to control anti-social behaviour and does not require anyone to attend court or to give evidence. However, it must be borne in mind that a court appearance may result if the behaviour complained of continues.”
Under the Harassment act, harassment is described as any behaviour, on at least two occasions, which causes alarm or distress to someone else.
There are a number of ways of tackling this behaviour but if you are suffering harassment at the hands of another, then this may well be a means to resolve your problem.
If you are suffering at the hands of another please feel free to contact your local policing team on knightonnpt@dyfed-powys.pnn.police.uk or by telephone from within Wales on 101 or from elsewhere 01267 222020.
