GRAFFITI vandals are being targeted by police following a spate of tagging in Colwyn Bay.

The letters ‘SFC’ have been scrawled across homes and businesses throughout the town centre over the past week, prompting police to ask for help from the public.
PC Scott Martin, Community Beat Manager for the town, confirmed investigations are currently underway.

He said: “We are asking for the public's help to try and identify the offender who is spray painting the letters ‘SFC’ on public and private buildings including houses around Colwyn Bay. We also want to talk to anyone who may know what the letters represent.

“Spraying graffiti is a criminal offence and the offenders could face appearing in court charged with criminal damage. A lot of public money is wasted cleaning off graffiti from buildings which could be better spent on other more worth while things.
“It also gives the wrong impression of Colwyn Bay, and undermines the hard work which the local community, council and police are doing to make the town a safe and enjoyable place to live, work and visit.”

Cllr Alice Robinson described the graffiti as “awful” and called for a stop to any future activity.

She said: “It’s awful. It’s not artistic. What are they trying to gain from it? If they have a message to give us there might be something in it but if they are just scrawling their initials then it’s just stupid.”

Colwyn Bay Town Centre Manager, Ingrid Lewis, said: “Colwyn Bay is in the middle of a regeneration program and this kind of vandalism undermines the hard work which has been done.
“If you have any information please do contact the police to help us identify the culprits.”
