A BEAUTY QUEEN from Llandudno is calling on local residents to make a last minute boost to her fundraising efforts ahead of the Miss Conwy 2011 finals.

Georgia Spencer-Turner, 21, is raising money for children’s charity The Joshua Foundation ahead of the contest, which takes place in Caernarfon on January 22.

The former pupil of Ysgol Bryn Elian, Old Colwyn, is hoping that Conwy residents will help her raise valuable funds for the charity, which provides life experiences for children with terminal cancer.

“I was told I was in just before Christmas - I’m really excited,” she said.

“I realise that this is a financially difficult time for us all, but if every reader could find it in their heart to give a donation no matter how small then a great deal could be achieved for these adorable children.

Georgia, who works as a sales assistant at the Next store in Llandudno, took part in a sponsored pier-to-pier run this weekend as part of her fundraising efforts, and said that taking part in the Miss Wales contest had inspired her to do more charity work.

“I’m hoping to do more fundraising over the coming year - I want to do a skydive!

“I want to raise more for the Joshua Foundation, as well as for Help for Heroes, and I’m planning on doing the Race for Life as well."

Georgia, who grew up in Old Colwyn, was also a finalist in the Welsh heats of the Miss Europe competition in 2007.

Georgia is asking for anybody wishing to assist in her fundraising to contact her at the Next store on Parc Llandudno.

You can also vote for Georgia to win the Miss Conwy contest by texting Georgia Lauren Spencer-Turner to 81118 or calling 0901 293 7903-15, both costing £1 plus standard network charges including a donation to The Joshua Foundation.
