A YOUNG woman from Old Colwyn is looking to take the lead at a national beauty contest.
Victoria Tooby, 16, of Ffordd Tirionfa, and a pupil of Eirias High School, is an aspiring contestant in the forthcoming finals for Miss Teen Galaxy Wales.
If she is successful in the national heats, she will go on to the next stage in the US at Miss Teen Galaxy International.
She has also competed at UK Teen Model of the Year 2010, where she came third.
Victoria has an advantage among her fellow competitors as she is able to use the support and guidance of her mother Caroline Tooby, 49, winner of Miss Wales 1982, and high-ranking previous contestant at events such as Miss Europe, Miss Intercontinental and Miss International.
Caroline was positive about her daughter’s chances at the competition, due to her confident approach.
She said “Obviously I'm very proud and pleased for her, and I hope she does as well as I did. She's got a good head on her shoulders. She's quite a confident girl. She has more confidence than I had.”
She added “I'm very biased, of course, because I think she's beautiful anyway - I think she should win them all!”
