THE DESIGN has been chosen for Colwyn Bay’s new waterfront attraction.
Conwy’s Cabinet Members have given their seal of approval to K2 Architects to design the watersports hotspot on Colwyn Bay promenade, as part of the Colwyn Bay Waterfront Project.
A design competition began in December, for the public to vote on designs for a new watersports hotspot on Colwyn Bay promenade, which will encompass an area immediately opposite the entrance to Eirias Park. Six designs were shortlisted and put on display for the public to comment on their favourites.
Following the votes, the top two entries achieved a draw. Representatives from the two designers gave presentations to Conwy’s Cabinet on February 2, and cabinet voted for the proposal put forward by K2 Architects.
The site will be built after the first phase of the coastal defence works, which will be completed later this year.
Further consultation will be held by the council in the meantime to allow the public to have their say on the proposals.
