Hundreds to join St David's Day celebrations

THE STREETS of Colwyn Bay will be alive with activity next week to celebrate St David's Day.

Six hundred school children will be taking part in the annual parade led by St. David on Tuesday, 1 March from 10am.

Starting from St John's Church, the parade will travel down Station Road and Sea View Road before finishing at St Paul's Church where a schools concert will be held.

Joining the youngsters will be the Samba Stiniog group with their drums who will be getting onlookers in the festive spirit with a carnival atmosphere.

The parade kicks off a series of activities taking place throughout the week.

On March 1, there will be a display of Welsh themed books plus story and craft sessions between 3pm-5pm at Colwyn Bay Library; and at 2pm a Feel Good Afternoon at Prince’s Drive Baptist Church will promote the importance of physical and mental health and well-being across all ages.

Consort Castell Recorder Group will also be performing on the day at the Bay View Centre between 2pm-4pm, with popular poet Mike Blackburn holding a special reading at Colwyn Bay Library at 7pm.

During the popular Tuesday market, there will also be chainsaw carvers and woodworkers demonstrating their skills.

For people who enjoy the outdoor life, a taster session of Nordic Walking will be held on Wednesday, March 2 between 10:30am-12pm leaving from Colwyn Bay Pier.
