PRINCE William and Kate Middleton visited an Anglesey lifeboat station on their first official engagement since they announced their wedding.
Hundreds of well wishers braved blustery conditions to cheer on the couple at Trearddur Bay RNLI lifeboat station yesterday as they officially named the crew's inshore lifeboat, the Hereford Endeavour.
Senior helmsman Chris Pritchard and three crew members took the boat out for a short display on choppy seas near the station.
The Prince, who is stationed at RAF Valley with 22 Squadron, regularly works with the crew on call outs.
Mr Pritchard said that he spoke with the Prince about a recent 22 Squadron search and rescue operation, and added that there was a friendly rivalry between the two crews.
"If we have a call out down the coast towards Llanddwyn, obviously the lifeboat will always want to beat the helicopter to the scene," he said. "As we're passing Rhoscolyn we can see the airbase at Valley, so we just try to make sure to make best speed without seeing the helicopter on the sand dunes."
He added: "The further we get, the better the chance we have of getting there first."
