A DEGANWY family has paid tribute to a “much loved” son, brother, brother-in-law and uncle who died while walking on the Great Orme.
Andrew Laurence Parvin, 47, had last been seen after leaving his parents' home on the afternoon of Sunday February 20, with the intention of going for a walk.
Inspector Mark Cartmell, of North Wales Police, said that the force helicopter found Mr Parvin’s body at the foot of the cliffs to the north side of the Great Orme on Wednesday morning, and was later retrieved by the coastguard.
A joint statement from his family said “Andrew was a fantastic, loving, caring and thoughtful, funny special person and will be greatly missed forever.”
Neighbours of Mr Parvin, who lived at Summerhill, Wrexham, said they were shocked to hear he had died, describing him as a quiet gentleman.
Along with being an experienced walker, who regularly visited Snowdonia, the Lake District and the Scottish Highlands, Mr Parvin was also an accomplished sailor of dinghies and offshore yachts, and member of Penmaenmawr sailing club, who enjoyed sailing on the Conwy river and the Menai Straits with his family.
The statement issued by his family described him as “well read, a keen swimmer, photographer and a talented artist. Andrew enjoyed cooking and nights out with family and his many friends.”
Mr Parvin was a contractor working at Airbus based in Broughton, Deeside.
The family added that they wish for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time.
Police are looking to speak to anyone who might have been on the Great Orme on Sunday afternoon who may have seen or spoken to Mr Parvin.
He was described as slim build, dark hair in his late forties, wearing dark coloured puffer type walking jacket, khaki trousers and grey hiking boots.
