TWO cows from an escaped heard of cattle have been killed after they caused travel chaos during rush hour.
Armed police shot a cow after it ran across the A55 near Llanddulas and a young bull was killed by a train after it wondered onto the tracks.
Police had been called to the duel carriageway to disperse a herd of 17 cows which broke onto the road just before 7am Wednesday morning.
The cows are believed to have escaped from farm land near the road.
One cow escaped from the herd and it was humanely destroyed by an armed officer after it posed a danger to the public.
Tailbacks stretching around two miles on the Eastbound side of the carriageway were reported as police blocked one lane while they attempted to herd the animals into farm vehicles.
At around 10.30am an Arriva Trains Wales service from Manchester hit the bullock which had strayed onto the tracks.
No passengers were reported to have been injured in the incident.
Calls flooded the police control room in St Asaph from concerned members of the public after the cows wandered across both carriageways and onto the central reservation.
Were you stuck in the tailback? Did you witness or take pictures of the incident?
