SIXTH form students will be travelling to Africa on a unique self-led expedition.
Four teachers and 25 students from Eirias High School, Colwyn Bay have flown to Tanzania for a month.
They will climb Mount Kilimanjaro, undertake charity project work in an African school, explore the Serengeti and Ngorogoro Crater on safari before finally relaxing on the coast or possibly Zanzibar.
David Mellor from the English department said: “The unique thing about the expedition is that the students lead themselves.
They assign group roles and it is they who are responsible for finding us food, transport and accommodation, as well as bartering the price once we are out there.”
The pupils have raised more than £4000 each to fund the tip over a period of 18 months, which has seen them hold auctions, pack bags in supermarkets and wash cars.
Leader of the trip, Daniel Ferrier said the children had worked hard and were really looking forward to the trip
