Scheme will cut flooding

WORK has started on a scheme to reduce flooding in Rhos on Sea costing more than £1 million.
Dwr Cymru Welsh Water will increasing the capacity of the local wastewater network, which fills during severe storms.

The enhancements are expected to help prevent flood damage to local properties during extreme weather conditions.

In order to carry out work safely, Dwr Cymru Welsh Water have announced that traffic management systems will have to be put in place while work is carried out.

Traffic lights will be in operation on Broadway until the middle of July before a road closure will be required until mid September.

A road closure will also be in place on Llanerch Road West for a short time.

This has all been planned in consultation with the highways authority and all diversions will be clearly marked during this period.

Clara Hughes, Dwr Cymru Welsh Water’s communications representative, said: “This scheme will directly benefit people in the area of Rhos on Sea and it reflects our continued commitment to provide improvements to customers through investment in our network.

“We would like to thank customers in advance of carrying out this work for their cooperation. We hope that they will bear with us whilst this essential investment work is undertaken.”

Dwr Cymru Welsh Water has also liaised closely with representatives from Conwy County Council over the planning of the scheme.

The company is investing £1.2 billion in its water and sewerage network between 2005 and 2010.
