Station wins top prize

LLANDUDNO Fire Station has won a top community award for fire safety.
The annual Community Awards Ceremony was hosted by North Wales Fire and Rescue Service at St George’s Hotel, Llandudno , recently. The aim of the ceremony was to recognise members of staff and the community, who have worked hard to improve safety.
Llandudno station were praised for making a difference to the community and for working hard to improve safety. Last year teams from Llandudno were mobilised in areas of South Yorkshire and Gloucestershire to combat the floods. They were away from their families for days on end and remained positive throughout the period. They provided the necessary cover to offer guidance, support and advice on home fire safety matters and ensured that equipment and appliances were available. The dedicated team have safeguarded communities in the event of emergencies.
Chris Enness, Deputy Chief Officer said: “ We are very proud of our staff at North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and the awards ceremony was a great way to show the Service’s appreciation to individuals and teams as well as utilising the event to raise money for well deserved charities in a relaxing, enjoyable atmosphere.”
A raffle was held on the evening to raise funds for three chosen charities. Guests raised £1000 which will now be shared between Dan’s Den in Colwyn Bay and the Fire Service National Benevolent Fund.
