A WAVE of vandalism continues to hit Colwyn Bay with a further two businesses coming under fire.

A litter bin was thrown through a window at Theatr Colwyn and a window was broken at Bon Appétit sandwich bar on Abergele Road last week. The incidents have come to light after Accent Properties, Bay Estates and Chester toy Wholesalers in Old Colwyn fell victim to vandals when their windows were smashed in during the early hours of the morning last month. All three incidents were understood to be linked.

Phil Batty, Manager of Theatr Colwyn said vandalism had not occurred at the theatre for 16 years.

"Generally people have more respect for the theatre so we have not had any trouble. It happened in the early hours of the morning. We have reported it to police and they are reviewing the CCTV footage."

The front window of Bon Appétit was also damaged in the early hours of the morning.

Last week the Pioneer reported on an incident at St Paul's Church gardens, Abergele Road. Vandals destroyed churchyard flowers and left cans of beer scattered near the church entrance.

Colwyn Bay Insp Jane Banham stressed the string of incidents would not result in further acts of criminal damage.

"We could not prove the incident at the churchyard was criminal damage as dogs were roaming around the area and this could have been the cause. Homeless people were also in the gardens and this could have been why cans of beer were found. I am aware of the incident at Bon Appétit and will look at the window which has been smashed at Theatr Colwyn."
