Motorists have been reporting delays of up to an hour to get out of a popular Llandudno retail park.

Visitors to Mostyn Champneys are experiencing "gridlock" with drivers being left with only one exit to leave the park.

The Pioneer believes works are currently being carried out on the traffic lights on the corner of Conway Road and Charlotte Road and could be responsible for the closure of the exit.

Motorists are therefore, being forced to exit the carpark from Charlotte Road on to Mostyn Broadway only, resulting in major delays.

Llandudno resident Phyllis Oliver said it took her an hour to get home, just around the corner from the retail park, and traffic was like "nothing she had ever seen".

Mrs Oliver, contacting the Pioneer from her car, said: "It's terrible. I've never been in this kind of situation in my life anywhere in the world.

"It's gridlock here in Mostyn Champneys, no one can get out. It's just chaos."

Dave Johnson was on his way to Deganwy and had been stuck in the traffic more than an hour and a half.

He said: "It's absolutely crazy. There looks to be thousands of cars stuck, it's gridlock - people can't go anywhere."
