A nine year-olds latest hair cut has helped her raise more than £300 for charity.

Alesha Grocott, from Gladys Grove in Colwyn Bay, had been growing her hair out for two years but on Saturday, November 25, she chopped a large portion of it off to donate to the Princess Trust, to make it into a wig for children with cancer.

It costs between £200 to £500 to create one of these wigs so Alesha, who is a year 5 student at Ysgol Nant-y-Groes, with the help of her mum Heather Grocott and friends have also raised over £400 to donate along with the hair.

Heather and Alesha both said a big thank you to those who attended the event at Revival Church in Colwyn Bay, and to all those who supported the cause.

Heather also ran stalls at the event to help raise further funds. Stalls available at the event included cakes, drinks, tombola and clothes.

Alesha said a special thanks had to go to her nan, Pat Roberts, for her help cutting and style her hair after the chop.

Smyth's Toy Store, Llandudno, also jumped on board with the head shave giving a 50 per cent discount towards a gift for Alesha to congratulate her on being so brave and thoughtful.

Family friend Michelle Turner said: "Well done Alesha, we are all very proud of you."
