A drug-driver who had a lock knife, cocaine and cannabis when police stopped a car at Llandudno was eight days later behind the wheel for a second time with “coke” in his system, a court heard on Friday.
Andrew Donkin, aged 46, unemployed, of Llys Trefor, Sea View Road, Colwyn Bay, had the knife for cutting sausages when camping and forgot it was in the car, his solicitor Deborah Davies told magistrates at Llandudno.
Donkin pleaded guilty to drug-driving on October 17 in Parc Bodnant, Llandudno, possessing cocaine and cannabis, and having the knife.
Prosecutor Sheyanne Lee said police became suspicious about a Vauxhall Zafira and Donkin had two passengers when it was stopped at Llandudno.
Donkin also admitted that on October 25 at Halkyn he drove a Nissan on the A55 with an excess level of a drug in his blood.
A 20 months driving ban was imposed and a 16 weeks suspended jail term with 150 hours unpaid work, a “thinking skills” course and drug rehabilitation. Donkin must pay £235 costs.
