An appeal has been launched for objectors to the proposed development of 110 houses in Marl Lane, Deganwy, to step forward and continue the fight at a forthcoming planning inquiry.

The planning application by Beech Developments of Llandudno Junction for the houses, raised a storm of protest. However last September Conwy planners refused permission for the controversial scheme.

Beech Developments subsequently entered an appeal against this refusal, and a public inquiry into the decision has just been announced for March 2018.

Cllr Mike Priestley, who was one of the leaders of the protest against the scheme said: "This is the last chance saloon to save this green land.

"We have to get organised for the inquiry to ensure we put our objections as powerfully as we can. So I am making an appeal to all the people who have already fought so hard against this scheme to make one final effort to stop the loss of this site.

"There are a number of issues which have to be brought up and examined in detail. To make our case as effectively as possible we will have to state all our objections in a structured and disciplined manner at the inquiry, with different witnesses putting different arguments to the Inspector. This is about how we manage our case, and it is vital we get the right result and keep this piece of land green for ever. Bor should we forget it is high quality agricultural land.

Hence I'd like as many of the objectors to contact me so we can get our act in order. They can telephone me on 07733 013317.

His fellow ward member, cllr Sue Shotter added: "I think it is very important for residents to have the opportunity to have their say on the loss of this green space which they clearly feel so strongly about. They have made a big effort to stop this unwanted development and let's hope this will be the final push."
