After just four months, Bodnant Garden has already welcomed a quarter of a million visitors through its gates.

In the last month the garden has hosted the BBC Radio 4 Gardeners’ Question Time show, featured on BBC Gardeners’ World and was runner-up for Best Garden in the BBC Countryfile Magazine Awards.

Bodnant Garden’s property manager, William Greenwood said this milestone - which was celebrated by staff who downed tools for cake and bubbly - capped it all off.

He said: “It’s a fantastic achievement to welcome a quarter million visitors in a single year. It’s all down to the hard work and dedication of every member of the Bodnant Garden team; staff and volunteers, they’ve all contributed in their own way to getting us to where we are today.

"This success is important for the garden too as every penny that comes through the gates goes towards keeping Bodnant Garden the beautiful and welcoming place it is for everyone.”

Bodnant, a Grade I listed garden, is world-renowned for its historic plant collection which has been developed since 1874 by the Pochin-McLaren family, and in conjunction with the National Trust since 1949.

Visitor numbers have been rising steadily since 2013.
