A COMMUNITY is rallying round to help a family who lost all their possessions in a house fire.

The family, who do not wished to be named, are connected with Mochdre Infants.

The mother involved in the fire has confirmed that she and her children are safe but are in shock.

The devastating blaze on Saturday happened at the house, located on Beechmere Rise, Mochdre, at about 7am. Four appliances from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and one adult and three children were taken to hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The school opened for donations of clothes and toys on Sunday and Monday. A JustGiving page has also been set up.

Rhian Jones, headteacher at Ysgol Cystennin and Ysgol Babanod Mochdre, said: "We were extremely saddened to hear of the devastating fire that affected the home of a family from our school. We are proactive in supporting our families and following the news that all their possessions had been destroyed, we felt that opening up the school over bank holiday weekend for donations was the least we could do.

"Posts were shared far and wide on Facebook and it was fantastic to see the local and wider community rallying round and offering generous donations and contributions to the family.

"The amount of clothes and toys received for the children was overwhelming and were gratefully received by the family.

"There has been strong community support in Mochdre over the last few days and the acts of kindness shown by all has been incredible.

"Should anyone wish to continue to donate then a link for JustGiving is on our school facebook page."
