Two men have been charged following the knifed robbery of Penrhyn Bay's Broadway News and Convenient Store yesterday.

Llandudno residents Matthew Ward, 22-years-old, and Darren Pomeroy, 21-years-old were charged last night with robbery and threatening a member of the public with a knife.

Both have been refused bail and will appear before Llandudno Magistrates this morning where applications will be made to remand them into custody.

Det Insp Chief Insp Neil Harrison from St Asaph CID said: "This was a particularly nasty attack where the shop assistant has been threatened with a knife leaving them traumatised.

"Both men were detained very quickly by officers and property stolen during the incident was recovered.

"I would like to reassure people that this is an extremely rare incident in the area and I am grateful for the support of the public yesterday. The investigation remains ongoing and I would ask that anyone with information about the should call North Wales Police."
