PLANS have been lodged to introduce new artwork at a popular nature reserve.

Julian Hughes, manager of RSPB Conwy, has submitted an application to Conwy County Borough Council (CCBC) for the new graphic to be placed at the site in Llandudno Junction.

The design features a montage of images of wildlife and people. The artwork will be located within the reserve, near to the carpark area, and not at the entrance off the North Wales express way.

Julian said: "It is not a sign, but we have to call it that for formal reasons. It will be located within the reserve, that was alway the plan. Is not replacing anything because there is nothing there at present.

"What we want it to demonstrate is all the different types of people that come to the reserve. The artwork will feature people engaging with different types of wildlife."

An application into proposals reads: "The cutout artwork illustrates the opportunities for visitors to engage with nature during a visit to the RSPB reserve.

"The proposed sign is not deemed consent and a formal application for express consent is required under the Town and County Planning (Control of Advertisement) Regulation 1992."
