Health board officials have moved to reassure patients after concerns their surgery may close.

Last week The Pioneer reported that Rysseldene Surgery in Colwyn Bay had handed in its notice to terminate its NHS contract on November 30.

This led to concerns from some patients who feared that the surgery would close.

After speaking to the practice, patients rang The Pioneer to tell them staff members of Rysseldene had told them the surgery wouldn't close.

However, when The Pioneer spoke to Rysseldene they were referred to Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) which insisted patients registered at the practice would continue to receive primary care services after November 30.

The Health Board is now in the process of determining how services supplied by the practice will operate.

A spokesperson for BCUHB said: “We are working closely with the Rysseldene practice and other local GPs to plan how patients will continue to get local services from December 2017 onwards.

“Normal services will continue to be available as usual within the surgery over the next six months.

“We want to reassure patients registered with the surgery that there is no need for you to take any action or to register with a different GP practice.

“We will contact patients with any further updates on arrangements for GP services from the practice.

“Anybody with any concerns or questions are encouraged to contact our GP and primary care services team via email at BCU.ConwyPrimaryCare@wales.nhs.uk, or by phone on 01492 860066 ext 2437 (Monday to Friday 10am until 2pm).”
