The next generation of health care workers are receiving additional training thanks to a charity in the memory of a Colwyn Bay health visitor and midwife.

The Sue Moreton Foundation works to raise funds to provide additional training to midwives, health visitors and supporting childcare projects.

Currently nine midwives and health visitors are studying advanced lactation training funded by the foundation.

Sue Moreton, who worked in nursing, childcare and health visiting for more than 44 years in North Wales, died in January 2016 following a short illness, aged 63. As a celebration of her career her family and colleagues set up the Foundation.

Trustee Pat Smailes, who was close friends with Mrs Moreton having worked with her for more than 45 years, said: “Sue would have loved to have seen what we’re doing today. This would have been a dream to her."

Supporters of the charity have raised more than £10,000 over the last 12 months. Sue’s son Brett Moreton, who helped set up the charity, said it had been fantastic to see the foundation come to life and hoped it would continue to build and develop.
