RESIDENTS' generosity has been on show this festive season with the Llandudno Christmas Foodbank receiving record donations.

Hope Restored have been busy handing out hampers since Saturday and said thanks to Mark Sides, his team at the foodbank and the communities donations there would be plenty to hand out to those in need this Christmas.

Hope Restored co-ordinator Brenda Fogg said: "Definitely (this has been the largest donation ever). There have been massive, massive amounts of food donated.

"I think people are beginning to realise how hard up some families are, and how these donations make a massive difference at this time of year."

He said it had been "staggering" the amount of donations he had received through the foodbank and he was overwhelmed with the response.

Mr Sides and his team have been working hard over the past few weeks picking up donations fro drop off points, schools and businesses and dropping them off to Hope Restored who have been making them into hampers to give out to those in need.

BMore Local was one of the businesses that had helped with donations to the foodbank and store owner Bev Williams said she was only more than happy to help.

Ms Williams said: "There has been an amazing response. We were filling up baskets, they were being collected and within 24 hours they were full again.

"People are just so generous. What might be only a little bit for some people, when given can mean so much to others."

Ysgol Bryn Elian was one of the schools that have helped with the foodbank and the work they have done Mr Side labelled as an "absolute superstar" effort.

This is the second year the school has been involved with the foodbank, this year collecting 48 bags of clothes, blankets and other items along with 36 bags of groceries, while also collecting donations from Morrisons, Colwyn Bay.

Mr Sides added: "Every donation makes a difference. It doesn’t matter if its one item or 100, it’s the act of donating that’s the important bit. The recipients will be so grateful."
