Participants braved the icy Llandudno water this morning as part of a Boxing Day tradition.

The brave souls turned out in everything from swimmers to Mickey Mouse and Santa costumes for the Boxing Day dip, all to raise money for local charities.

The event is run by the Lions Club of Llandudno and money raised will this year be shared between for St David's Hospice, Llandudno RNLI, St John's Ambulance and the town band while participants also took part in the dip for their own personal charities.

Llandudno Mayor councillor Francis Davies attended the dip and said it was great to see so many people turn out for another year.

Cllr Davies said: "It was a wonderful turnout, all doing it for good causes, not just St David's Hospice.

"It was great to see the enthusiasm of some people. It's a great opportunity for people to turn up for charity, in their fancy dress costumes and take part in the dip."
