A campaign to raise funds for the sons of a Llandudno FC member who died on Saturday has reached its target in its first few hours.

Tony Healy, the "Red Van Man", beloved community figure and avid Seasiders fan, committee member, volunteer and supporter died suddenly on Saturday morning - just hours before he was due to travel to watch Tudno take on Newtown.

The campaign, spearheaded by Llandudno FC Supporters Club manager Iain Dyer, met it's target of £500 just hours after it launched on justgiving.co.uk for sons Craig Stevens and Owen and James Healey.

Tributes have poured in for Mr Healy, who was born on September 1, 1969 and grew up in Kirkby, Merseyside before moving to Llandudno.

Llandudno FC boss Iwan Williams was one of a plethora of people paying tribute to the community figure, whose lifelong passion for the club saw him add the Llandudno FC crest to his red van alongside that of his beloved Liverpool Football Club.

Mr Williams said: "A devastating blow hearing of Tony Healy’s passing. A true Llandudno FC fan who devoted everything to our football club.

“Gutted we couldn’t get the result for him and all the Llandudno supporters who were fantastic throughout.”

Mr Healy was honoured at Saturday's fixture by supporters, who chanted his name throughout their narrow defeat to the Robins.

Mr Healy, 49, worked a variety of jobs throughout Llandudno and Conwy, including as a cleaner in Edwards of Conwy, before realising his dream of starting his own haulage and cleaning business - Tony the Red Van Man - in 2013.

Neil Hughes, manager of Edwards of Conwy, said: "What can I say about Tony Healy other than that he was an absolute legend.

"He always had a cracking joke and was always ready to help in any way he could. He was a well respected member of Edwards of Conwy and will be sadly missed."

Mr Healy was also a regular contributor to Tudno FM, where and had his own breakfast show

A spokesperson for the station said: “He was larger than life, always positive and never let anything get him down. As soon as he walked into the building and that booming voice said 'yall right Jaynie hows it going luv' you couldn't help but smile.

“He loved the station and just wanted everyone to listen in and enjoy being part of it. He was a massive part of Tudno FM and there will be a huge void without his character and enthusiasm.”
