More than £6,000 was raised for Llandudno’s St David’s Hospice by Geoff Butterworth, the Men’s Captain at North Wales Golf club.
Geoff nominated the hospice as his charity of the year, but gave members of the club credit for their help and support in raising the money. The actual total was £6,118.14.
His charity year was full of fundraising events including a Charity Golf Day when more than 130 members and guests paid to enter teams despite heavy rain and winds from Storm Brian.
Geoff said: “It is the club and its members who deserve the credit in raising this sum, it has been a great year of fundraising and golf.”
Hospice Corporate Fundraiser Kathryn Morgan-Jones said: “The amount raised is absolutely fantastic and the funds will provide the very best hospice care to adult patients from across Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey.”
St David’s Hospice provides specialist care to adult patients with advanced illnesses or those in need of end of life care and their families. It costs more than £2 million a year to run the charity, most of which comes from community fund raising. None of these costs are passed to patients, their families or carers, St David’s Hospice care is free to all.
