A Llandudno man accused of threatening to rape and throw acid in the face of his ex-wife has been jailed for six months by a weekend special court.

A four-year restraining order was also made against Michael Morrison, aged 63, of Clarence Road, Craig-y-don. He admitted ignoring a non-molestation order and four shoplifting offences.

District judge Gwyn Jones at Llandudno court said the non-molestation order had been made in Liverpool recently but Morrison had made contact, causing a significant amount of concern to his former wife. There were serious threats and pornographic images were sent to her.

“It’s a flagrant and persistent disregard of an order of the court and the threats have continued,” the judge said.

Angharad Mullarkey, prosecuting, said Morrison, on benefits, told police he wanted to scare his ex-wife Andrea and harass her enough to cause a mental breakdown. He’d threatened to throw acid and also burn down her house.

“The victim has taken steps to move house,” Mrs Mullarkey remarked.

Sarah Yates, defending, said there was no violence used by Morrison who had bipolar disorder. “It’s clear this defendant does have issues. He was with the complainant 25 years and married for 16 of them,” the barrister said. “He doesn’t want to hurt the victim. These threats were done in alcohol and under the influence of drugs.”
