A NEW book charting the history of the lifeboat stations of Llandudno, Llanddulas and Conwy will be launched at the end of the month.

Entitled Llandudno Lifeboats the author is Nicholas Leach, who has written extensively on the lifeboat service and is also editor of the international shipping magazine Ships Monthly.

Nicholas will be available to sign copies of his book on Sunday April 29 at Llandudno lifeboat station between 11.00am and 12.30pm, the RNLI shop in Llandudno between 1.30pm and 2.00pm and Conwy lifeboat station between 2.30pm and 3.00pm.

An spokesman for Llandudno lifeboat said: “The book records the fine record of gallantry of the lifeboat crews here and in Conwy, who have performed hundreds of rescues since 1851 when the first lifeboat arrived in the town.

“The book covers the history of the stations at Llandudno, Llandulas which operated between 1869 and 1932, and Conwy. Nicholas worked in conjunction with local volunteers to prepare the book.”

The book retails at £15.99, but a special cover price of £15 will apply on the launch day.
