DEGANWY Prom Day was the busiest and best ever.

More than 2,000 people are estimated to have attended the event last Saturday.

Full of family fun for children of all ages, the Prom Day which has been held for many years, is held on the first Saturday in June.

Vicky Macdonald, chairman of the organising committee said: “Despite the weather being unsettled in the morning it was sunny later on and everyone I spoke to said they were enjoying themselves.

“We estimated more than 2,000 people came along, more than ever before. I think this was the biggest and best prom Day we've held. Of course we will try to get even bigger next year.

As far as I could see everyone who came along was happy and there was a lot of laughter everywhere. There was a lovely happy family atmosphere throughout the day.

Vicky added: “The idea behind the Prom Day is to bring everyone in the community together for fun and activities, while raising money for local charities, and it certainly worked.

“This year we supported the Blind Veterans, Guide Dogs Cymru, St David's Hospice, Bees Wales, RNLI Lifeguards and Alzheimer's Research. I don’t know how much money was collected, we are still counting, but I know we sold almost 1,000 raffle tickets, so hopefullynit will be a bumper sum.

“Activities for the children included a traditional sports day with races, and they were a lot of fun. It was wonderful seeing all the small children running in sack, egg and spoon and three legged races. Harley the Clown with his circus skills and Commando X Fit inflatable assault course. Another highlight was the fun dog show and the dancing displays from local dance companies Cinti, Kaleidoscope and Conwy Reflections.”
