A Year 8 student from Ysgol San Sior has been named the 2018/19 Miss Alice competition in Llandudno.

Carys Lambe beat out 12 other finalists for the title and take over the crown from last year's winner Isabella Maddock.

The decision was made by a judging panel including Amanda Hawkins (mayoress), Elizabeth Wright, Alan Guinn, Sylvia Harper and Mrs Sheila Culshaw and revealed during a ceremony on Saturday.

The contestants appeared twice before the judges: once to introduce themselves and secondly to answer questions about the Alice in Wonderland book.

They were judged on, in round one, their appearance, communication skills and personality and in round two, the answers thy gave to the questions about the book.

Both the incoming and outgoing Miss Alice's were awarded with gifts on the day as a congratulations and thank you for taking on the role.

Carys', the new Miss Alice, duties will include attendance at Llandudno town council civic and guest appearances at other events.

She will accompany the mayor to civic engagements and on occasion undertake visits out of the area to promote Llandudno and the “Miss Alice” connection.
