Tributes have flooded in following the passing of popular Llandudno "Ormite" Ethel Roberts.

Described as a character and well liked and respected within the community, she was known to all in Llandudno.

Llandudno Town councillor Ian Turner, Mostyn ward, said: "She was a character in her own way. She was always cheeky and had a twinkle in her eye.

"She was very well known, liked and respected, everyone knew her. She will be sorely missed."

Mrs Roberts lived on the Great Orme and kept an immaculate garden. She would walk her dog around the Orme on a regular basis as well.

Cllr Turner said she would always make time to stop and talk to people.

She was named Llandudno's Rose Queen in 1935 and held worked at various places through out the time in her life in the coastal town.

Residents took to the Facebook group 'You know you are from Llandudno if you...' to express their condolences and share their memories of Ms Roberts.

Most comments expressed their great sadness at the death of Ms Roberts.

Judith Phillips, on the Facebook page, said: "I'm very sorry to hear that news. Ethel was always cheerful and a genuinely lovely person.

"I used to enjoy chatting to her about Llandudno and she always brightened my day. RIP Ethel."

On the same page, Siân Powell said: "So sad to hear this. She had many great stories to tell and was a genuinely lovely person.

"Me and my sister were only talking about her the other day walking passed her house."

While, former neighbour, Kathey Hughes said: "She was a great lady and myself and two children loved her immensely while we lived nearby."

Her funeral was held last Thursday at Holy Trinity Church, Llandudno before the cremation at Bron y Nant.
