Stand-up returns to the Colwyn Bay this month for another dose of laughs for 2018 from some of the hottest and most sought after comics on the UK comedy scene.

Returning to the Station after a stellar first year in 2017, comedy spectacular Stand-up at the Seaside is bringing in the new year bigger and better with more utterly hilarious performances from the cream of the stand-up circuit.

The evening is hosted by MC Dave Rothnie, who has been perfecting his stagecraft since the club started last March and has since consistently brought the most dynamic acts - and his love of good British comedy - to the rotating monthly line-up.

Rothnie said: “I remember first going to comedy clubs in the early 1990s and what an exciting experience it was to see these brilliant performers who were utterly hilarious and for the most part unknown except to die-hard comedy fans.

“My aim is to attract the best comic talent to Colwyn Bay and that will continue to be the mission in 2018 as I make the nights bigger and better and to bring the atmosphere and acts of places like the Comedy Store in Manchester. We’ve had fantastic support since our first show in and it’s going from strength to strength.

Braving the Colwyn Bay crowds is Ignacio Lopez, the part-Welsh and part-Spanish comic who has been wowing audiences with his individual style and outstandingly high gag-rate since moving to the UK to perform eight years ago.

A frequent headliner in top comedy clubs all over the UK, Lopez has also performed sold-out solo shows at Edinburgh, Reading, Brighton fringe festivals as well as an extended tour of venues throughout Wales.

Joined Rothnie and Lopez is James Meehan, a rising star of the UK comedy scene. A founding member of multi-award winning sketch group Gein’s Family Gift Shop whose talents also landed him an appearance on the second series of BBC Drama Inside No9.

And for any audience members who think they have a shot at upstaging or joining the ranks for the pros, the evening invites them to enter the monthly joke competition ,where they can submit their own gags with the winner – as decided by the audience – entitled to special prize.

Rothnie added: “If you like laughing, then this is the perfect antidote to the January blues!”

For an evening of top comedy club calibre, head to The Station on January 27 at 8pm, and at the same on the last Saturday of every month throughout the year.

Tickets are £12.50, to book visit the Station or contact Dave Rothnie by calling 07903 682303.
