Four men forced their way into a property on Diserth Road in Rhos-on-Sea.

The incident, which was a distraction burglary, took place at about 4.45pm on Monday, April 9 and North Wales Police are calling for any witnesses to come forward with information on the

St Asaph CID detective inspector, Simon Kneale, said: “The occupant was visited by two men who purported to be from the water board. They distracted the female resident whilst two further men made an untidy search of the property. They stole a quantity of cash before leaving on foot.

“Whilst no force was used by the offenders, they used deception to trick the victim who has been left shaken by the ordeal.”

“I would like to reiterate that under no circumstances should residents allow anyone into their homes unless they are 100% sure that they are legitimate. Workers from the council and any authentic utility company will carry identification, which should contain a phone number for verification. Any genuine contractor will not mind waiting outside whilst you seek verification.”

The investigation is ongoing and police patrols have been stepped up in the area.

Insp Kneale added: “I would ask residents to be mindful of personal security and ensure that windows and doors are secure. If you feel someone is acting suspiciously in the area please contact the police immediately.”
