A HIGH SCORING weekend clash between Connah’s Quay and Mochdre saw the Blackmarsh Fields side come up 41 runs short.

Half centuries from Matt Bennett and Gareth Davies were not enough for Mochdre, who had no answer to an outstanding 159 unbeaten from Quay’s Martin Burger.
Number three batsman Burger overcame an otherwise uninspiring performance from his fellow batsmen, scoring the lion’s share of the runs as they declared on 264 for six from 50 overs.

Adam Campion took three wickets, and there was one each for Russ Boswell, Aaron Fishwick and Gareth Davies.

Mochdre were two batsmen down with the score on 38, but a third wicket partnership between Bennett, who finished on 60, and Campion took the score to 78.

Bennett paired up with Davies to reach 147 for his wicket, and the latter pushed the score on to 222 before being the ninth batsman to fall, with Mochdre losing their tenth wicket just one run later to finish 41 short.

Despite the defeat, Mochdre stay fifth in the Premier League table ahead of a derby clash with Llandudno this Saturday.
