Denbigh 123 all out
Llandudno 125-5
Llandudno won by five wickets
LLANDUDNO kept up their campaign for a sixth consecutive title with a five wicket win over Denbigh.
Graham Boase took four wickets as the visitors were bowled out for 123 runs, thanks largely to a late 56 run knock from Marcus Adams, who was caught by Jordan Kane from a Ajay Dhawan ball.
The wicket was one of two late wickets for Dhawan, whilst Gordon Kerr also took two and Jack Rimmington and Chris Hardy chipped in with a wicket each.
Without big-scoring captain Steve Smith, Llandudno got off to a disastrous start as they fell to 14 for three during a shower punctured opening.
But a fourth wicket stand of 60 between Aled Williams (37) and Sam Rimmington (35) gave Llandudno some much needed stability, and an unbeaten 25 from Gordon Kerr saw the hosts cruise home with five wickets to spare in under 30 overs.
At the time of going to press, the seasiders were also waiting on a verdict from the league held on Monday evening, over the 18 point penalty incurred for fielding a suspended player.
The club appealed the decision, handed out after Gordon Kerr took part in July matches against Pontblyddyn and Bangor, saying that the star bowler served his suspension in the two previous games.
Should the points be reinstated, Llandudno would sit just one point behind league leaders Connah’s Quay with four matches left to play.
Tudno are now shaping up for a season defining Bank Holiday weekend of cricket, including a title showdown with Menai Bridge on Saturday followed by a trip to the Swalec Stadium in Cardiff for the Welsh Cup Final against Swansea.
The two key fixtures are followed by a Bank Holiday Monday clash with Pwllheli at the Oval, with Llandudno hoping to strike an agreement to postpone the fixture to ease their busy schedule.
