ANOTHER rainy weekend called a halt to Colwyn Bay CC’s weekend fixture, as a promising start to their game against Northern proved to be in vain.

Two wickets from Paul Fleming reduced the hosts to two for nine in the fourth over, before showers brought a premature end to the game.

The match was one of four no decision’s in the Liverpool Competition Premier League this weekend, with just two games remaining on the mid-table first XI’s calendar.

The Seconds meanwhile drew their weekend match with Highfield, but stay clear at the top of the Liverpool Competition First Division due to the rain-affected weekend.

A 98 run second wicket stand from Ethan Ray and Dafydd Rhys helped the Bay over a loss in the first over, with the former striking ten fours in a quick-fire 56 from 53 balls.

Regular wickets failed to match the duo’s big-hitting efforts, as the Seconds kept one eye on the weather to declare on 178 for six in the 33rd over.

In response, Highfield passed the half century before the first wicket, though the Bay claimed regular wickets to take the match to the wire.

Highfield were down to their last pair when the allotted 35 overs passed 32 runs short of their target. Tom Clarke bagged a five wicket haul, whilst Glyn Gibbons took two for 28.
