LLANDUDNO’S march up the Huws Gray Alliance table continued at the weekend with an impressive 3-1 win over Cefn Druids, setting Town up perfectly for this weekend’s Welsh Cup clash with Caersws.

Neither side managed to make a breakthrough in a high-tempo first half, despite Darren Gowans and Joe Morgan going close to converting and Andy Rooney making two quality saves at the other end.

The match half burst into life on the hour mark though, with both sides finding the back of the net. Morgan fired in the opener on 58 minutes, converting a Dean Seager pass after a strong run from Tom Dix, but former Seasider Tony Cann volleyed home from outside the area just a minute later to restore parity.

Dix was again involved in Llandudno’s second, smashing an effort against the bar on 75 which fell kindly to Lee Thomas, who set up Danny Hughes who fired in Llandudno’s second with a sublime finish.

Llandudno bossed the remaining stages, and Ross Rule stepped off the bench to score for the second week running, firing into the roof of the net after being put through by that man Dix.

Deiniol Graham, who has masterminded Tudno’s six game unbeaten run, said: “after the first ten minutes of Cefn pressure, we dealt with the problems and went from strength to strength and fully deserved the victory.

“We are happy the way things are going we are on a role and confidence is high and we are now looking forward to the Welsh Cup game.”

CONWY United had to settle for a point in their clash with resurgent Penycae, drawing 1-1 after taking the lead through Leigh Craven.

Pen took a point from the Morfa after equalising through Phil Fitzpatrick, leaving the Musselmen in 11th place in the Huws Gray Alliance table.
