ROSS RULE’S rich vein of form in front of goal continued at the weekend as he netted the only goal in Llandudno’s 1-0 Welsh Cup win over Caersws.
Rule’s 34th minute strike earned the Seasiders a fourth round trip to Aberystwyth, who beat FC Cefn 6-1 in their cup clash.
Joint Llandudno boss Mark Hewitt said that he hoped to extend Tudno’s seven game unbeaten run, going into last night’s Huws Gray Alliance fixture with Conwy United.
“With Ross Rule in great scoring form let’s hope this run continues,” he said.
“It was an excellent team performance and team spirit with another good win against a very good Caersws side, that’s three wins in a row and now we look forward to our next league game on Tuesday night against Conwy.”
Early chances fell to Julian Williams and Danny Hughes, whilst at the other end Andy Rooney maintained his encouraging start at Maesdu Park with two crucial interventions.
On 34 minutes, Steve Aspinal supplied Rule in the box, who fired home his second bite of the cherry after his initial volley was parried by keeper Dave Jones.
In the second half, Rooney was again at his best to tip wide Scott Williams’ effort and block Rob Evans’ effort from out wide.
With ten minutes left Rule almost added another, failing to beat Jones after running the length of the pitch, and Danny Hughes also had an effort saved as Llandudno saw out the win.
