CONWY UNITED have changed their off-field line-up, with management duo Steve Jones and Dean Martin stepping down from their posts and former Colwyn Bay chairman Geoff Cartwright taking up the Morfa Stadium hotseat.
The management duo, who took charge in at the start of the season following promotion winning manager Paul Moroney’s departure, resigned on Saturday after their side conceded two goals in the final five minutes.
New chairman Cartwright meanwhile met with the club’s committee last night as they search for a successor, with Olly Walters and Mark Orme stepping in as interim bosses.
A statement on the club’s website read: “It is with regret that the club announce the decision of both Steve and Dean to resign from their positions at the club.
“The committee would like to thank them for the tremendous effort and loyalty that they have shown the club this season, and to wish them both well in the future.
“The appointment of a new Manager will be made as a priority to ensure the club retains its league status.
Dan Roberts handed the Musselmen a ninth minute lead, but Rhos turned the tie on it’s head with goals from Mike Sharples and Kevin Fitzsimmons.
Leigh Craven netted five minutes before the break to send the two sides in level, and followed up with two more by the hour mark to put United in charge.
But strikes from Arron Edwards and Mike Pugh in the final five minutes snatched the points away, keeping Conwy eleventh in the table, seven clear of danger.
LLANDUDNO TOWN also drew their weekend fixtures, as hosts Ruthin held the in-form Seasiders to a 0-0 draw.
Difficult conditions and a resilient home defence made life difficult for Llandudno, as Lee Thomas, Tom Dix and Joe Morgan all spurned early chances.
Darren Gowans rattled a post with a superb volley early in the second half, with sub Dean Seager’s follow-up bouncing over the bar.
Llandudno continued to pile on the pressure, with Wyn Williams and Danny Hughes both denied by the excellent Ruthin keeper Jamie Hulse.
Joint Manager Mark Hewitt said he was pleased to keep his side’s unbeaten run going: “This was a game in which we dominated against a very stubborn Ruthin team on a difficult playing surface, we didn’t create enough clear cut chances but on the positive side it is another clean sheet and our unbeaten run continues.”
